GPT-5 is here
Let's take a quick look at OpenAI's new flagship model
Quick Note
Ok… I normally wouldn’t hit your inbox on a Friday, but it felt like today’s news couldn’t wait until next week. We have one story on deck that everyone in the AI world is talking about.
OpenAI launches GPT-5

OpenAI has launched GPT-5, its new flagship model that will power the next generation of ChatGPT.
Key background: GPT-5 is OpenAI’s first “unified system,” meaning it combines the reasoning capabilities of the o-series with the fast responses of the GPT series. The model automatically chooses when to prioritize speed or deeper reasoning.
What you need to know:
GPT-5 outperforms previous models across the board. It’s OpenAI’s strongest model for coding, writing, math and health-related questions.
OpenAI says the model is also more reliable for real-world queries. It’s less likely to hallucinate (make up information) than previous models and follows instructions more closely.
GPT-5 will soon be available to all ChatGPT users. Plus subscribers get more usage and Pro subscribers can access a more powerful version of the model called GPT-5 pro.
Why it matters: This might be OpenAI’s most highly anticipated product launch since ChatGPT was released in 2022. It looks like the company delivered — GPT-5 appears to be the “smartest” AI model in the world by a slight margin, but its real upside comes from its agentic capabilities. Demos show that GPT-5 can build websites, apps and interactive games entirely on its own. This is a huge step up from previous agents we’ve seen.
Thanks for reading! Hope you enjoyed this quick Friday edition of Chain of Thought. GPT-5 hasn’t loaded into my ChatGPT account yet, but I’ll be sure to test it out and share my findings with you when it does.
See you next week,
